Owner of London Broadband Ben Cloutier With Son Dreyden on Left Caught This Magnificent Sturgeon
Ben Cloutier created London Broadband because he enjoys helping others and he also wasn’t sure what broadband speed he needed so he created his own unique Household Broadband Calculator. For those looking to read Big Ben’s Blog you can keep up to date on Ben as he creates new tools and calculators for his AMAZING FRIENDS ALL ACROSS THE UK!
This calculator estimates the Download & Upload speeds of all of your devices connected to your router/WiFi using speed recommendations from Netflix and YouTube.
Big Ben was also thinking of households with gamers, photographers, videographers, etc that Download &/or Upload large amounts of data. The Download/Upload Speed Comparison tool allows you to compare your current broadband speed with other broadband speeds for downloading or uploading large files. You can compare Live results of how much time you would save compared to other faster speeds. We also believe in paying it forward and will Donate £5 to one of the UK GoFundMe campaigns for every sale! We have just started this campaign and look forward to making our very first donation!
We found Trustpilot UK offers the most accurate ratings for broadband providers as Sky, BT, and Virgin all have under 2 stars. Compare those ratings with 4.8/5 for Lit Fibre, 4.7/5 for Gigaclear, 4.5/5 for Hyperoptic, 4.5/5 for Vodafone, and 4.2/5 for BeFibre.
You will also notice I don’t have ANY SPONSORED LINKS as I want you to find the best available provider in your area without any bias. That is exactly why Ben created this very unique Download & Upload Speed Calculator so customers can see how much download and upload speeds their devices use.
Part of the formula is based on the fact that Netflix strongly recommends a minimum 15 Mbps for watching 4K or Ultra HD shows. Another part of Ben’s research also found that YouTube recommends a minimum download speed of 20 Mbps for watching 4K & UHD.
The calculator estimates the total download and upload speeds being used by all of your devices in your household. If the calculator estimates 300 Mbps or less, it is strongly recommended to see if Lit Fibre, Gigaclear, Hyperoptic, or BeFibre, is available in your area.

Do I Need Fast Download or Upload Speeds for My Household?
Faster download and upload speeds do increase productivity for those that rely on the internet for download or uploading large files on the internet. For customers wondering how much time they would save with a faster broadband speed should try our unique download & upload time comparison tool.
This unique tool allows you to compare various download times based on different internet speeds to show you the time difference of downloading certain media and software such as online games. Fortnite is a popular game requiring 40 GB’s (40,000 MB) to download and would take 13 minutes to download if your broadband download speed was 50 Mbps. Full fibre offering 200 Mbps would complete the same download in just 3 minutes or just under a minute with a 900 Mbps download speed.
If you don’t download or upload very often you may find your current internet plan suits your current needs which is why I created a page for the cheapest offers available. If you’re looking to bundle your broadband with TV I also created a page with the latest TV and broadband bundle deals.
